PEEK has the ability to maintain stiffness at high temperatures and is suitable for continuous use at. It offers hydrolysis resistance to steam, water, and sea water. Whether your facility works in the aerospace, health care, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, or other industry, we can fabricate PEEK to meet your project’s requirements. PEEK (polyetheretherketone) is a high-performance engineering plastic with outstanding resistance to harsh chemicals, and excellent mechanical strength and dimensional stability. PEEK plastic has many uses, and a PEEK compatibility chart can reveal the large number of chemicals with which it is compatible. However, we do the job right the first time to ensure no mistakes and to prevent any issues from arising in the future. A longer process might require several instances of annealing to ensure a lack of cracks and stress damage. Annealing isn’t necessarily a one-time process in PEEK machining, either. The tricky part is heating it up enough to soften it without melting it (which happens when the temperature reaches 649.4° F). This ensures greater PEEK machinability and prevents the material from developing cracks on the surface as well as other imperfections and weak points. Annealing involves heating up the plastic in order to soften and stress-relieve it. Due to PEEK plastic’s properties, it needs to be annealed before it can be fabricated into a specific shape and size. With PEEK CNC machining, the material arrives in rod form. PEEK plastic machining is difficult because of the preparations the plastic must undergo before it can be machined. PEEK is a tough material to craft, and PEEK machining requires special expertise-expertise that we at Miller Plastic Products have in abundance. Not every plastic fabricator out there is versed in PEEK machining. Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is in high demand these days as a thermoplastic material best suited for high-performance plastic parts and other uses. These represent only a small percentage of standard blends available.PEEK machining requires a special touch. These are mean values and can be altered by material source and process. Superior resistance to gamma and X-rays.Our Semi-finished capacity and capability All our materials are tested on site to International Standards so we can maintain a consistent quality product without impacting on lead times. We ensure the highest quality materials by mechanical property testing. ![]() In addition to this, we produce machine finished components for a range of industries including Aerospace, semi-conductor, Petrochem and Oil & Gas. We manufacture PEEK semi-finished products including rod, tube and sheet by compression moulding. It is extensively used in the aerospace, automotive, and chemical process industries. It is one of the few plastics compatible with ultra-high vacuum applications. It dissolves completely in concentrated sulfuric acid at room temperature.īecause of its robustness, PEEK is used to fabricate items used in demanding applications, including bearings, piston parts, pumps, HPLC columns, compressor plate valves, and cable insulation. ![]() It is attacked by halogens and strong acids as well as some halogenated compounds and aliphatic hydrocarbons at high temperatures. It is highly resistant to thermal degradation as well as attack by both organic and aqueous environments. Some grades have a useful operating temperature of up to 250 ☌ (482 ☏). PEEK has a glass transition temperature of around 143 ☌ (289 ☏) and melts around 343 ☌ (662 ☏). The Young's modulus is 3.6 GPa and its tensile strength 90 to 100 MPa. The processing conditions used to mold PEEK can influence the crystallinity, and hence the mechanical properties. PEEK is a semicrystalline thermoplastic with excellent mechanical and chemical resistance properties that are retained to high temperatures. Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) is a colourless organic thermoplastic polymer in the polyaryletherketone (PAEK) family, used in engineering applications.
