12/15/2023 0 Comments Old habits die hard asying![]() You dream of creating your own Mona Lisa one day a work that you're remembered for that pushes the boundaries of art and the human experience. You can paint all sorts of amazing things. You've spent years studying and practicing various styles. They get a lot more freedom now thanks to union intervention and regulations, but can still end up in lengthy contracts to do depressingly repetitive roles. Back in the early-to-mid 1900s (IIRC) actors didn't have the unions they have now and they were more or less property of the studio in terms of the work they did. Granted, I'm sure it was never as bad as the earlier days of film. Willis may have even been in a Die Hard contract at times and didn't even want to do the movie. Many actors take their work pretty seriously and being handed bottom of the barrel material they've seen and done over and over can undoubtedly get to them. I'd probably want to phone it in too, if I was being asked to do yet another remake, rehash, reboot of the same shit I'd done multiple times. Because old habits (like staying alive) really do DIE HARD. But even though it would be easy for him to just give up and let it happen, McClane just can't. Too old to be saving the building/airport/world. Plus, a 'Die Hard' event is by definition not a good day.Īt least OP's title is in keeping with what I think the original interpretation of the title is. A Good Day to Die Hard just sounds like a shitty Bond film title. Live Free or Die Hard is just a cheap play on the New Hampshire State Motto. So then, why after the second film, did the naming convention seem to refer more to how villains died or killed than McClane? He wasn't the one out for Vengence in Die Hard with a Vengence. He was certainly not a special ops badass or Austrian bodybuilder, or martial artist who you never thought could lose or even get hurt during the film. Unlike other action films before, McClane seemed like an everyman hero. McClane's ability to stay alive, to NOT die, to DIE HARD was what put this movie in it's own realm. I mean, what's so different about how the bad guys die in this film vs any other film. I never subscribed to the idea that the dying was more violent or hard for the bad guys. I've always thought the original was called "Die Hard" because McClane was so hard to kill. Okay, is it just me or has the naming convention for Die Hard gone off the rails? So Long, and Thanks for All the Die Hard.Only the Good Die Hard (totally stole this one).Time to Die Hard (time travel/multiverse movie that unites the original and reboot series). ![]() ![]() Die Hard 2: Die Harder (sequel to the reboot).Live to Die (Hard) Another Day (ignores the reboot).Cause "A Good Day to Die Hard" was an awful name for an awful movie haha If anyone knows of an official twitter or facebook page of Willis, we need to make him aware of this name. Ive thought of this name over 10 years ago, back in high school when Die Hard 4 was announced and genuinely was dissapointed that they havent thought of it or used it yet lol. Id say McClane dies at the end in order to sacrifice himself and save the day, or go in another direction and have someome else save the day and put over Old McClane as a bit of a relic in todays fucked up and evil world.Įither way I just want this movie to be called "Old Habits Die Hard". He would think he is smarter and wiser due to his experience and is expecting it to be all about money in some way like every other Die Hard, only id have the twist be that the villian of the movie is a Joker-esque character who just wants to watch the world burn. Id play Old McClane off similar to Die hard 4 but with McClane seeming like he is legit a step behind these new bad guys the entire time. Id honestly just keep it simple too, have it take place in a hospital where his daughter is giving birth to his 4th grand child or something like that, only have a terrorist attack happen at said hospital. He could play a role similar to Old Logan or Old Snake, as a lifelong Die Hard fan (5 was shit) this is the only way I accept the series returning. ![]()
